9am: departure by bike for the circuit around the Voie Verte. After crossing the Blanchefontaine lane in the shade of the trees, I take a refreshing break at the Grenouille fountain. I then follow the Voie Verte through the village of Saints-Geosmes. My route takes me past the springs of the Marne, which are well worth the diversions, given the beauty of the natural site (equipped with themed markers). After a long descent, I reach Cohons, where I stop again to see the famous drystone snail. I then reach the pretty village of Baissey and stop to visit the old water mill. The miller welcomed me and ended up selling me some of his traditional flour. I left with a bit more to carry, but happy with this unusual encounter. In the shade of the Trou d'Aix wood, I then made my way to the small flower-filled village of Noidant-le-Rocheux. Here, I take a break in this pretty village at the bottom of the valley, crossed by "la Mouche" (14th-century church of St Vallier and flower-filled wash-house). I then set off again on a pleasant little road through the Haut-Marnais countryside that leads to the edge of Lac de la Mouche. I end my day by returning gently along the Voie Verte.
