Day 1
Towns of character and living heritage
Your roadtrip begins with a visit to a craft centre that is unique in France. At the Moulin de la Fleuristerie, admire the artificial flowers made to adorn the finest creations of French haute couture. A stone's throw away, the lily of the valley circuit invites you to take a stroll through fields and forests, at the gateway to the Forêts National Park.
Continue your discovery in Châteauvillain, a charming Petite Cité de Caractère® with historic remains well worth a visit. What a surprise! Its fortified walls open onto the Parc aux Daims, a pleasant place to stroll where more than 200 fallow deer roam freely.
You'll spend the night in the heart of the forest. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the Auberive municipal campsite. Perhaps you'll come across the trail of a roe deer or the flight of a black stork?
Day 2
Nature and culture at Auberive
In Auberive, discover the abbey and its 9 centuries of history. Once an abbey, a spinning mill and a prison, it now houses a contemporary art centre and one of the largest private art collections in France.
In the heart of the forest, follow the 4.5km path to the source of the River Aube. Continue your discovery of the park at the Gorges de la Vingeanne, a 390-metre canyon carved out of the limestone of the Haute-Marne region.
For the evening, park your van at the foot of the Vaux-sous-Aubigny vineyards. While admiring the panoramic view over the village and its valley, you'll savour the gourmet pleasures of the stage: white wine from Muid Montsaugeonnais and Langres from the Germain cheese dairy.
Day 3
Langres and the surrounding area
Ranked among the 50 most beautiful detours in France, the fortified city of Langres stands at the gateway to Champagne and Burgundy. From its ramparts, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside.
At Lac de la Mouche, the calm of the area attracts a host of fish and birds. It's a great place for a nature walk or mountain bike ride.
Finish your road trip in style at the Rolampont tufa quarry. Thousands of years of moss-filtered limestone water have sculpted this monumental staircase, one of the jewels in the Forest National Park.
