In this elevated part of Marac, the last extension of the village in the 19th century, a remarkable ashlar building (from the Bugnières quarries) can be seen halfway down the slope on the left. It was originally the home of Hubert Boucher (1866-1925), a professor of veterinary medicine and zootechnics in Lyon, whose research, following on from that of Professor Cornevin of Montigny-le-Roi, contributed to the discovery of a vaccine against "anthrax".
