The Roman road that passes near the mausoleum comes from Langres "Andemantunum", a major crossroads at the time. It was part of the road from Langres to Reims, the successor to a Gallic road that linked the capitals of the Lingon and Rèmes cities via Bar-sur-Aube. The road that passed through Faverolles probably continued north-north-west towards Châlons-en-Champagne and Reims, passing through Chaumont, the Blaise valley and Vitry-le-François. Partly preserved under the humus of the forest, it is open in front of you for several hundred metres. You can still make out the ditch and embankments that lined it on either side. The techniques used to build the tracks were adapted to the topography of the terrain and the local resources of available materials.
