Before the revolution of 1789, Auberive did not have a parish church; the lay people attended services at the abbey, where they had their cemetery. In 1772, the last commendatory abbot of Auberive erected a small chapel of Sainte-Anne to replace another of the same name, then in ruins, located within the monastic enclosure. |In 1863, Dean Barthélémy enlarged the chapel thanks to public donations (construction of a transept and a larger canted choir), and added an elegant bell tower in 1864-1866, transforming it into a true parish church. It was consecrated on 11 April 1883 by the Bishop of Langres, Monsignor Bouange. The façade features life-size statues (1.75 m) of Saint-Pierre with his keys and Saint-Paul holding a sword, sculpted by Jules Naudet from Langres, a pupil of Rude.
