A nature walk through heritage, forest and local sights:
Starting from Saint-Julien church in Vicq, this 7.5 km loop (about 2 hours on foot) is ideal for a family outing to discover a discreet heritage and varied landscapes. The trail begins on an old procession path leading to the chapel of Sainte-Germaine, perched on the Frillouse site, with a superb viewpoint and picnic area. Further on, you'll come across an impressive centuries-old oak tree, a ford over the Malvaux stream and then the entrance to the Charmoise national forest. Here, a remarkable beech tree, listed as the "President of the Vicq Forest", impresses with its size. The route crosses a protected natural area (ZNIEFF) rich in biodiversity: a typical place where you can still find herbaceous plants such as wood stellaire, amphibians such as the Yellow-bellied Toad, a small toad that frequents ruts and springs, and the nesting grounds of numerous bird species (Green Woodpecker, Velocity Warbler, Oak Jay, European Oriole, etc.). Once at the source of the Charmoise, take a break at its resting place. Return via the Jardin Vadelet vineyards and the Saint-Julien washhouse. A complete walk, combining nature, history and curiosities to share.
