A loop through forests, heritage and tranquil ponds:
This 11km trail from Villars-Santenoge offers a well-balanced itinerary, perfect for walkers looking for nature and local history without overdoing the distance. From the pond, the route takes you first in the direction of Santenoge, then through fields and woods, gradually climbing to the heights of the Bois de Chardenon. The passage above the Etang de la Juchère, alongside the railway line, lends a bucolic charm to the start of the route. After crossing the stream, things get a little tougher with the steep descent to Côte de Belvau, then the climb back up to Châtel, before a leisurely return along the edge of the wood. Along the way, don't miss the statue of the "God of Pity", the remains of an old forge, or the two ponds at La Juchère, ideal for fishing and summer swimming. The perfect way to spend an active afternoon with a change of scenery.
