Le colombier - PR N°82

A 20 km loop between deep forests and heritage :
Reserved for experienced hikers, this 20km loop (around 5 hours on foot or 3.5 hours by mountain bike) from Marac offers a complete immersion in the woods of Marac, the Ormancey state forest and the area's rich historical past. The route crosses several forest massifs along varied, sometimes technical paths. There are climbs, long stretches of forest and steep descents, all of which require good stamina and orientation. Along the way, discover the fountains of Ternat and in particular the St Claude fountain, dating from 1842, where the saint was prayed to in times of drought. On the way back, stop off at the Marac dovecote, a 12th-century circular tower, a rare vestige of seigniorial rule, admire the "le rond" fountain or the Suize bridge built by the architect Nicolas Ledoux. A complete walk, as much for its sporting interest as for the richness of its landscapes and remains, to be experienced to the full in the heart of the Haute-Marne.
