The fountain dates back to 1873. This long fountain is made up of two troughs and a central building housing Saint-Claude, who distributes the water by means of two swan's beaks pouring the precious liquid on either side. In times of drought, Saint-Claude was called upon by the villagers to bring water to the village. Nuns from the nearby convent of Saint-Loup-sur-Aujon regularly came to Saint-Claude to ask for rain. Oral tradition also tells of numerous solemn processions by parishioners from neighbouring villages to put an end to the drought that was about to cause desolation and famine.
