A walk through rolling countryside and Gallo-Roman remains:
Leaving from Villiers-sur-Suize, this 14km loop (about 3? hours on foot) offers a wonderful immersion in the landscapes of the Pays de Langres and the region's ancient history. Accessible to regular walkers, the route alternates between forest paths, grassy tracks and more open stretches with views over the valley. The route leads to the village of Faverolles, where you can visit the exhibition devoted to the Gallo-Roman mausoleum: a monumental 1st-century tomb, the only one of its kind in northern France. Further on, archaeological digs in the forest bear witness to the importance of the site in Roman times. On the way back, the descent via the Roman road and then the Bois de Mongessey offers a calm and rejuvenating natural setting. A varied hike, combining heritage discovery, moderate effort and breaks in the heart of nature.
