... Cohons only really entered the history books in the 12th century, with a lay seigneury already divided between the houses of Montsaugeon and Tilchâtel. Towards the end of the 12th century, Guy de Tilchâtel sold all his rights and possessions to the Chapter of Langres, which in 1201 endowed the newly-founded Saint-Laurent Hospital in Langres with the property it had recently acquired in Cohons and Vaux-sous-Aubigny. Similarly, the descendants of the house of Montsaugeon, either laymen or as canons of Langres or deans of the Chapter, made donations or founded their anniversaries in this place, thus strengthening the possessions of the same Chapter in Cohons...
