Three gates richly decorated with fire pots and fruit baskets open onto this rare formal sunken garden, set on an axis of symmetry perpendicular to that of the château.
As in the King's kitchen garden, the high walls provide protection from the wind and trap the heat that will be released at night to the fragile buds. Access ramps and staircases frame two vaulted sheds. This exceptional work was pencilled by Jean-Michel Chevotet (1698-1772).
Restoration work (walls, railings, vaults, etc.) is currently underway. If this work requires partial closures, these will be announced on this site. The work is being financed by the owners with the help of sponsors: DRAC, Fondation du Patrimoine, French Heritage Society.
Free admission to the park and gardens from 1 July to 14 September 2026 every day from 10am to 5.30pm.
