Between canal, forest and rocky promontory:
Starting in Viéville, this 12km loop trail takes you through contrasting landscapes, between peaceful waterways, undergrowth and lookouts. The trail first runs alongside the canal "between Champagne and Burgundy" before gradually ascending into the combe de Grandvau. In the forest, beech and alder trees line the path up to the summit of Roche Bernard, a rocky promontory overlooking the Marne valley. A 150-metre diversions takes you to the picnic area and the rock-climbing site, popular for its varied routes (3b to 7a). The gentler return journey takes you through farmland and hedgerows to Viéville. Signposted green/yellow, this 3-hour hike offers a wide range of activities: moderate effort, forest immersion and a remarkable natural heritage. It's ideal for regular walkers who want to combine wilderness with scenic stops.
