Situated in the Marne valley 2 km south of Joinville, the village of Rupt has found itself in the spotlight in 2021: the castle, former residence of the iron barons and an endangered heritage site, has been selected by the Stéphane Bern mission to be saved with the help of the Fondation du Patrimoine.
However, the castle is not the only trace left by the "iron barons" in the village. Although it has no forges or factories, the history of the village in the 19th century is closely linked to that of a number of families in the Haute-Marne metallurgy industry, who left many traces that can still be seen today. Starting from the village hall car park, this trail invites you to discover them.
