Les grandes combes - PR N°52

A sustained forest loop between Doulaincourt and Le Heu:
This 18km circuit from Doulaincourt offers a demanding route, ideal for seasoned hikers looking for raw nature and distance. The route, signposted in green-yellow and red-yellow, first follows the Marne-Rognon GRP before entering the Heu national forest. The climb up the Grandes Combes forest road sets a steady pace before joining the "donkey trail", an old historic path lined with beech forests and views over deep valleys. The route passes through a variety of areas: old connecting paths, isolated clearings and stony passages. You can take a break at the forest house to recharge your batteries before continuing on to Pointe de la Truffière. Allow 5 hours to complete this complete hike, combining forest heritage, rugged terrain and immersion in one of the most unspoilt massifs in the Haute-Marne.
