A nature walk combining history, panoramic views and biodiversity:
Departing from Bay-sur-Aube town hall, this 8km circuit (about 2 hours on foot) is perfect for a family outing, with no particular difficulties. The loop forms a "butterfly wing" itinerary linking two environments: heritage and nature. The route begins with a climb to the Butte de Taloison, a listed nature reserve with exceptional flora, including several rare species of orchid. From the summit (428 m), there is a beautiful view over the Aube valley. For centuries, this high point on the Langres Plateau served as a grazing area for the local sheep and goats. This pastoral activity in these ungrateful surroundings helped to maintain the ecosystem. Along the way, you'll come across the church of Saint-Hippolyte, a Romanesque-Gothic gem with astonishing sculpted funerary slabs. On the way back, you'll pass the source of the Goule, flower-filled paths and cross a peaceful wood where, at the edge, you may be lucky enough to spot some game. Thanks to the ID-Vizit app, an interactive storytelling version of the route accompanies you every step of the way. It's a walk that's accessible to everyone, with its open landscapes, local legends and botanical treasures.
