The village of Andelot, located in the east of the Haute-Marne on the borders of Champagne and Lorraine, is a veritable "crossroads of history" with a rich past. It played a part in the rise of the Roman Empire (numerous remains of temples have been found near the Bray fault to the north of the commune, along the "Via" linking Montsaon to Soulosse), in stabilising the Frankish kingdom with the signing of the Treaty of Andelot in 587 (between Burgundy and Austrasia) and in providing logistics for the liberation of the Eastern Front, during the Second World War (via the street later named "rue de la Division du Général Leclerc" and also via the railway line, now used for tourism by the "Cyclo-Rail des 3 Vallées").
