The permanent exhibition in the Tower of the former Château des Comtes de Saint-Belin in Besles, on 3 levels, presents over a thousand old objects that bear witness to the daily life of our village and its local crafts.
In the cellar of the Tower, you'll see a blacksmith in his workshop and a washerwoman.
On the ground floor, the Gantières (glove-makers) and their counter-mistress will share their know-how with you, and you can admire cutlery and cisellerie, shoe-maker's tools and woodworking tools, a reminder of the Great War, and a display case devoted to religious objects, including Clément Macheret's account of the first Grand Pardon de Chaumont.
Upstairs, you'll meet the teacher and his pupils, the spinner and her spinning wheel, the polisher and his "man-wheel". You can also see the flag of the Biesles wind band, the shepherd, the clog maker and a reminder of the presence of the American army in 1917 (interpreters' school), etc...
Finally, the showcases display many objects from everyday life, as well as mannequin scenes.
