The École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr has erected a stele in tribute to Captain Yves Hervouët (1920-1954), who was wounded at Belmont on 14 September 1944. He died for France in Indochina.

Yves Hervouët was born near Beauvais on 1 October 1920. He was admitted to the special military school in Aix-en-Provence in September 1942, graduating with the "Croix de Provence".
Promoted to second lieutenant and posted to the 5th Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique in April 1944, he took part in the Provence landings on 18 August 1944. During the French campaign, he was wounded and mentioned in the divisional order. He was promoted to lieutenant in December
After the Second World War, he was promoted to captain in 1950 and served in Vietnam, Indochina and Germany. On his return to Indochina in 1953-1954, he was seriously wounded in both arms.
Exhausted and ill, Captain Hervouët died on 10 July 1954.
On 15 June 1954, Lieutenant-Colonel Audemard d'Alençon, commander of the 1st chasseur regiment, wrote of Captain Hervouët: "Extremely brilliant, Captain Hervouët is a first-class leader".
