The source of the Mouche can be approached on a shady, leafy walk along the GR7 ® long-distance hiking trail: an invigorating sight guaranteed. Like many of the rivers in the Langres region, the Mouche was long enough to power the many mills that dotted the valley (Noidant-le-Rocheux, Vieux-Moulins, etc.). By providing the energy needed to run the paddle wheels and gears and their machinery, the Mouche helped to maintain human activity. Today, the river is a wonderful break from the massiveness of the Langres plateau, adding an undeniable aesthetic interest to the landscape, as well as a tourist attraction since the construction of the dam at Lac de la Mouche (the deepest of the four Langres lakes).
