From the street at the rear of the château, you can admire a large section of the wall that once protected the property. In the centre, a fine fortified gateway has two openings, one for horses and carts and the other for pedestrians. Originally, a moat probably preceded this construction, as you can see in the wall the housing of the wooden beams known as "arrows" which, attached to chains, were used to operate the drawbridge at each of the gates. You can also see the recess around the gates that allowed the raised wooden bridge to follow the line of the wall. A framed coat of arms can be seen above the main gate. It probably bore the coat of arms of the owners.
