On the house at the junction of the Rue des Ancolies and the Rue des Saxifrages, note the presence of a cast-iron directional sign. Created in 1835 by the authorities, these "coachman's signs" were painted in white letters on a madder-blue background and were placed everywhere at a height of 2.50 m so that they could be easily seen by coachmen, hence their name.
