The Place de l'Orme takes its name from a tree that once stood on the same spot. Today, the main feature of this square is the presence of two monumental portals that bear witness to the wealth and power of the former magistracy, which merged with the aristocracy. The main feature of the facade, these portals abound in decorative overloads where Baroque competes with Mannerism. No. 14, for example, features a triangular pediment interrupted by a marine figure surmounted by an urn, all embellished with drapery and grotesque figures; while No. 16, adorned with columns and bosses, is crowned by a three-sided arch surmounted by fruit bowls and plant decorations.
