Standing in front of the dovecote in the courtyard, visitors are confronted with an architecture that is original for this type of building. Built of ashlar, the first level features three round-arched openings, each topped by a half-occulus. Above this is a slightly conical tower. Part of the shaft has openings with flight platforms. A mixture of brick and stone, these are arranged on two levels with one or two openings for birds to enter. At the top, a stringcourse links five small round-headed windows, completing the feature. The crowning touch is a slate roof with a slender, elaborate finial. Inside, a revolving ladder, twisted in two parts, provides access to the 150 plaster bolts around the circumference.
