This private mansion was built by François de Clermont-Tonnerre, Bishop of Langres from 1695 to 1724. A private and more intimate residence than the imposing old bishop's palace between the cathedral and the eastern ramparts, this "little bishop's palace" was adopted by all the prelates of Langres during the 18th century. It comprises two dwellings served by a monumental staircase on the left-hand side. At the rear, the terraces, which have been converted into gardens, offer a unique panoramic view over the Marne valley.
