The Prévetat spring ZNIEFF covers a group of former pastures established on marl soils, now partly reforested, located in a valley on the border with the Côte d'Or, with characteristic vegetation constituting one of the last examples in Haute-Marne of this type of environment, alternately dry and wet: Mesobromion (grouping with Tetragonolobus and Carex tomentosa), Molinion and grouping with Deschampsia media. Two rare species have found refuge here: the middle cane, of sub-Mediterranean origin at the edge of its range, and the mountain bermudagrass, also known as blue-eyed grass, a small plant in the iris family, which has been naturalised in the region since the beginning of the century; both are on the red list of plants in Champagne-Ardenne. These are the best-preserved grasslands in the area, with real landscape and educational value. A study of the fauna has yet to be carried out (presence of the common salamander, on the regional red list), and its interest for insects is potentially significant. Formerly more extensive, half of it has been destroyed by farming. The rest is overgrown and in fairly good condition.
