The Theurets grassland is in a special situation, having developed on the spoil and excavations of a former oolitic limestone quarry. Its vegetation is very specific (Seslerio-Mesobromion montagnard) and well adapted to gravelly soils resulting from the disintegration of oolitic limestone. It also contains numerous plant species, often southern, sometimes mountainous, rare or endangered, with five species protected at regional level (germander orobanche, whitish helianthemum, alpine theson, one at national level (aster amelle) and nine species on the red list of endangered plants in Champagne-Ardenne (including Salzburg euphorbia, a mountain species with a disjunct range, fumana vulgaris, carline acaule, etc.).).
