This ZNIEFF covers two small sub-montane grasslands in relatively good condition, which are highly representative of the Langres plateau: the first is located on a steep, elongated slope at mid-slope within a cultivated area, while the second is a small, partly overgrown grassland overlooking the village of Aulnoy-sur-Aube. More than twenty fairly rare species can be found here, two of which are protected in Champagne-Ardenne, the bird's-foot sedge and the rock violet, which are also on the regional red list, as well as an orchid, the spider ophrys. This site is representative of many similar sites on the Langres plateau.
