Located 5 km east of Langres, Lac de la Liez covers a maximum surface area of 278 ha (16 million m3), 220 ha on 30 June and around 180 ha on 30 September. A reservoir classified as category 2 in the public domain, it has 14.2 km of shoreline and a maximum depth of 14.40 m.
Lac de la Liez is renowned for its pike and carp fishing. Many anglers practice their sport on the 450 m long dyke. Almost all of the banks are open to fishing, with the exception of one of the two reservoir tails that have been set aside. Boat fishing is permitted under the conditions specified on the information boards located near the boat ramps.

Boats: thermal and electric motor boats are allowed on the entire lake. Fishing boats may not be parked on the beach. Permits for traffic and mooring must be requested from the Navigation Services, DDE Subdivision, 52250 LONGEAU.
Traffic: access to the banks of the reservoir is forbidden to all motorised vehicles, except for launching boats on the two ramps provided for this purpose.
Reservations: fishing prohibited in Lecey bay and from the water sports centre to the water skiing pontoon.
Night carp rules: night carp fishing is prohibited outside the zones and opening periods. Any breach of these rules will be reported.
Reservoirs (extract from the Arrêté Préfectoral): fishing in the supply reservoirs of the Entre Champagne et Bourgogne canal, in the event of a drop in the water level, is regulated as follows:
Liez reservoir :
Water level below 0.70: fishing is absolutely prohibited.
Water level between 0.70 and 2.24: fishing is authorised using a single line from the shore only, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only.
Water level between 2.24 and 3.78: fishing is permitted every day throughout the reservoir, but only with a single line from the shore.
