Located 8 km north of Langres, Lac de Charmes covers a maximum surface area of 197 ha (11.6 million m3), 150 ha on 30 June and around 100 ha on 30 September. A reservoir classified as category 2 in the public domain, it has 13.4 km of shoreline and a maximum depth of 15.20 m.
Like Lac de la Liez, Lac de Charmes is renowned for the size of its pike and carp. Many anglers practice their sport from a boat moored to 2 stakes planted away from the banks. Along the 4.1 km stretch of the north bank, which runs alongside the D121, anglers will find a boat launch, a car park and plenty of places to eat.

Boats: It is forbidden to use boats with internal combustion engines on the entire lake, as well as to park fishing boats on the beach. Electric motor boats are permitted. Permits for traffic and mooring must be requested from the Navigation Services (VNF), DDE Subdivision, 52250 LONGEAU.
Traffic: Access to the banks of the reservoir is forbidden to all motorised vehicles, except for launching boats.
Reservations: fishing is forbidden on the riprap and rip-rap of the reservoir, in the area upstream of the RD 74 bridge and 20 m downstream, as well as on the beach (marked by buoys). No boats are allowed in Champigny Bay (fishing permitted).
Night carp rules: night carp fishing is prohibited outside the zones and opening periods. Failure to comply with these rules will result in a penalty notice being issued.

Charmes reservoir :
Water level below 332.62: fishing is absolutely prohibited.
Water level between 335.60 and 332.62: fishing is authorised using a single line from the bank only.
