Château grounds A rare example of the Regency style, the château was completed in 1717 to plans by architect and sculptor Jean-Baptiste Bouchardon (1667-1742).

The marshy nature of the site led the designer to propose a series of drainage channels whose branches meet to enclose an island adorned with a vase.
