The eastern rampart offers a breathtaking view of Lac de la Liez, the Vosges and the Alps. Orientation table on site.
From the formidable balcony formed by the rampart walk, there are uninterrupted views over the Marne valley. The Franchises plateau is home to Langres' main industrial units, which have found the space they need to develop here; they mainly specialise in rubber and the processing of plastic raw materials.
From the end of the 1950s onwards, these plants moved in, leading to the construction of new residential areas to the south of the old town.
The valley floor is home to the routes that link Langres to the world: the Marne-Saône canal and the Paris-Basel railway line. Further on, on the heights, you can still make out the vegetated silhouette of some of the forts built after the 1870 conflict with Prussia.
On a clear, dry day, you can even see the summits of the Vosges and the Bernese Alps.
