Until 1265, the bishop's palace was located to the north of the cathedral. Preferring to keep his residence away from the growing land holdings of the chapter, the bishop chose to settle between the chevet of the cathedral and the eastern ramparts. Only two wings remain of the palace rebuilt in the mid-17th century (the date 1646 can be seen on a cartouche). Destroyed during the French Revolution, most of the episcopal residence was replaced by a seminary in the 19th century. It now houses a school.
