Saint-Dizier, birthplace of MIKO ice creams
The Ortiz family's traditional business, established in Saint-Dizier in 1921, became the MIKO ice cream factory in 1951. From then on, the Bragarde family never stopped modernising their factory and forging partnerships. The most famous of these was with the Tour de France. MIKO became a well-known brand, widely sold throughout the world.
In 1994, the multinational UNILEVER took over the ORTIZ-MIKO group, which became the COGESAL-MIKO group, one of Europe's leading ice cream manufacturers, still present in Saint-Dizier. The Ciné Quai multiplex with its 1930s tower, located on the former MIKO factory site, houses a mini-museum dedicated to MIKO, recalling its history with the cinema!
