Many of Langroise's houses have inherited from the medieval period their narrow street frontage, their large number of storeys and the fact that they were used for both craft and residential purposes. Most of the street facades were altered in the following centuries to make them more modern. This one, with its timber-framed structure, is an exception. The different functions are clearly superimposed: the two cellar levels were used for storage, the stone ground floor was used as a workshop or craftsman's stall, and the corbelled upper floors were reserved for living quarters.
