The school-hall with its evocative lintel was designed by Claude Collombel, a mason and stone mason from Cussey-les-Forges, who rebuilt the ruin purchased by the municipality in 1839 to serve as the town hall. It consists of two almost symmetrical parts, once housing the school's only classroom on the ground floor to the left and the teacher's lodgings to the right of the entrance door, as well as the town hall on the first floor. On the outside, note the "bull's eye" on the façade, and on the left gable, the remains of the medieval overflow latrines (from the former fortified house), installed in 1883 when the school courtyard was reduced and the original latrines destroyed when the road was widened. Outside, on the right-hand side of the lane, there is a lean-to that is still covered in stone.
