On the Chemin de la Vigne aux Prêtres, we can see the curious town hall building on the right, with its semi-circular north gable. This building is actually the result of an attempt by some Orcevaux residents in the 19th century to have their own church so that they would no longer have to attend services in Flagey, with the construction of this chapel on private land in 1863. But the members of the family concerned could no longer agree on who should contribute what. So, in 1866, they donated the building, which was nearing completion, to the commune, which made a number of alterations so that in 1879 it could house the long-awaited town hall and school, with accommodation for the teacher upstairs. The local school continued to operate here until 1968, when it was forced to close due to insufficient numbers. At that point, the town council made a few final alterations to the building to convert it into a town hall, while retaining the upstairs accommodation.
