The "10" lunette (the number is taken from the military nomenclature, which has the habit of numbering the various works and buildings!) is a fortified work forming part of the citadel's defences. Built in 1848 at the same time as the citadel itself, it takes the form of a polygonal fort surrounded by deep ditches and is entirely self-contained. Set up a few dozen metres in front of the citadel's bastions, it is a kind of "sentinel", an advanced support point designed to slow down an attack from the plateau.

Owned by the town of Langres, the site is not open to visitors, so you can take a virtual tour by consulting the images in our photo library.
