The snail, located near the chapel of Ste Bologne, is a curiosity for walking tourists, as there are very few of them. Topped by a 10.50m-high cross overlooking the coast, the cross, which was renovated during the restoration of the snail, was erected in 1857 in memory of the martyrdom of St Bologne. It was blessed in 1901 by the faithful who had come to join Abbé Delaumosne on the Roôcourt hill. Many pilgrimages to pay homage to Ste Bologne took place there.
