Already present in 1625, but rebuilt in their current state on their age-old site in 1761, the magnificent atrium-shaped covered market halls of Montsaugeon with their external cornice in the form of a doucine, bear witness both to the seigneurial power (the bailiff and provosts held their meetings here) and to the important role played by the local fairs and markets. In the 19th century, the market halls in Montsaugeon still held a market every Thursday and four fairs a year.
