The Côtes Noires are 50m-high cliffs on the banks of the Marne. They consist of a cliff of green clay and sand, but their dark colour is due to the presence of an iron-rich mineral: glauconite.
An unusual site overlooking the military airbase, it is reached by a stone path through a fir grove next to two ponds.
There are several meandering stretches of shoreline where you can stop for a picnic.
You can also canoe down the river.
