Lavoir du "Ruadel" à Bussières-les-Belmont

Lavoir du "Ruadel" à Bussières-les-Belmont

Heading towards Chalindrey, below the Rue du Maquis, you can take a cobbled lane or staircase to reach the remarkable, very old washhouse known as the "Ruadel" or "Ru Adèle" (XVIII). The wash-house takes the form of a building enclosed on three sides and covered by a low-arched vault. It is fortunate to have retained its lava roof. Inside, the water flowed into two successive basins, around which the washerwomen could stand or kneel. Outside, two troughs lean against the retaining wall of the street and are topped by four charming fluted pilasters of antique inspiration.
The original paving remains on the ground.
