This fountain-washhouse, built in 1862, is supplied with water by a catchment from the Grandvau spring. The outer semicircular basin is reserved for men's consumption; inside, a stone ledge is used to hold the washing boxes, small wooden troughs lined with straw or rags to protect women from splashes and spare their knees. The large washing basin is evidence of a population of over 350. Towards the exit, another basin, higher up, was used for rinsing.
