Nestling in a natural cirque below the road to Bourbonne les Bains, after a short descent, is the Arcombelle or Recombelle washhouse, which was renovated a few years ago. Two water basins, a long one for washing and a deep one for rinsing, are bordered by a sloping coping, the whole being designed in the open air, i.e. without a roof. A protective wall with three niches was built on one side. It is easy to imagine the toil of the washerwomen who had to access this site, far from the houses, to wash their clothes. At the time, the choice of location for the oldest washhouses was dictated by the presence of a spring.
