This washhouse is unusual in that it collects water from a spring called "La Grande Fontaine". The washerwomen, well sheltered under the lean-to supported by two columns, came here to rinse their washing on the washing stone overlooking the basin whose water, held back by a small dam, fluctuated according to rainfall. The water then drained away, creating an arm of the river that flowed into the Vingeanne some thirty metres away.
