At the end of the 17th century, villagers would go to the village troughs to collect water from a spring at the bottom of the Echenot area. Coming from various offshoots on the Langres plateau, the water was used to water the animals and for drinking by the villagers. It was in the 18th century that water was brought to the village, where a washhouse with a fountain and a drinking trough were built (rue du château). Water was supplied to the washhouse by gravity until the village sewage system was put in place, eliminating the need to supply this building. Today, this old washhouse houses the distillation workshop.
