The wash-house, fully restored in 2007, is located close to the road leading to St-Symphorien church. The architecture and proximity of the abbey church and priory suggest that this building was used as early as the end of the 16th century. In addition, restoration work has revealed Gallo-Roman remains (retaining walls, ancient water catchments) and fortified medieval dwellings. These buildings have retained their original appearance (with the exception of the roof) and the accessories used by washerwomen over half a century ago. The walls are made of stone and rubble bricks mortared with natural lime and sand from a local quarry. This framework easily supports an oak frame, topped with a gable roof covered in flat tiles. In addition to the entrance door, the building has a large open south-facing section, which at the time provided the necessary light for the washerwomen to work.
