In 1859, glove production became massive and it soon became necessary to subcontract production to the villages in the region. For around 100 years, 5,000 women would be sewing gloves.
By 1851, there were more than twenty seamstresses, linens makers and glove makers in Cour -l'Evêque. By 1861, around thirty glovemakers in the village were working from home.
This intense activity meant that a workshop could be set up in this group of houses.
There were many workers in the village, but every morning, people also came on foot from Coupray and Arc-en-Barrois.
The glove factory was in operation for around 60 years before disappearing during the First World War.
