Hi, let me introduce myself. I'm Jean 1er de Châteauvillain, your guide for this tour.
Are you ready for this adventure?
Yes, great, but before we get started, I'd like to say a few words about Châteauvillain.

Châteauvillain is a commune of 1,600 inhabitants in the south-west of the Haute-Marne, on the border between Champagne and Burgundy.
It was the border between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Burgundy until the 15th century. Its name is still an enigma today, and there are several stories behind it. The most likely comes from the Latin "Castrum-Villanum", meaning fortified tower and estate.
Its history became clearer from 1160 and the arrival of the Lords of Broyes. Since then, around ten great families and their coats of arms have succeeded one another in running the town. You can even still see the medieval towers and ramparts that surrounded the town.
Keep your eyes peeled for them.
