In the Rue de l'Eglise (at nos. 1 and 4), you can see pediments dating from 1809 and 1840, as well as typical Masonic symbols showing the rank of Master Mason, as well as those of senior Freemasons. These are ancient rituals of the Order of Clavis-Masons. Freemasonry dates back to the construction of Solomon's temple, and based on the symbolism of construction, it spread in France in the 18th century. A universal alliance, it worked for the progress of humanity with one ideal: fraternity and solidarity. Voltaire became a Freemason a few weeks before his death.
